About Pat Becker

Producer and director Pat Becker has been digging up stories since graduating from Kent State University with a bachelor’s degree in journalism.   Once she read All the Presidents Men, she was hooked.  "How could someone not want to be a journalist? This was the greatest storytelling of our time and it wasn’t fiction.”

After being pepper sprayed by the National Guard while attending a protest on an anniversary of the Kent State Massacre, she adopted a new attitude toward authority, free speech, and the power of assembly that would shape her outlook forever.

Complacency is never an option.  In anything.

As a journalist, she started her career on small-city papers with the freedom to dig into topics like salary disparity, malpractice among physicians, and land grabs by major corporations into small towns.

 

Even before she started her professional career, she was sued by the student council president for a scathing editorial she wrote about his mishandling of fees.  It ran in an avant-guard publication she started on Kent State’s campus.

Her motto: “If you have a voice and you have an opinion, use them. What happens next will never be as bad as keeping silent."

Over the course of a career that included magazine editing, speech writing, copy editing, scriptwriting, documentary filmmaking, publicity and corporate/crisis communications, project management, Pat has worked with experts in the industries of design and technology, film and entertainment, healthcare and insurance, banking and investments, fragrance and cosmetics.
